April Update From the Commish
As promised, here’s the 2010 Monkeyball update…
WEBSITE AND SOCIAL NETWORKING/MEDIA
Over Christmas we unveiled a new MB website at http://playmonkeyball.com. If you haven’t been there yet, go now. The new site gives us many more options for featuring photos, using social media and talking some MB trash. You can also sign up for the RSS feed to notify you when new recaps and articles have been posted. You can also support MB by becoming a Facebook Monkeyball Fan and following @playmb on Twitter.
MB6 – 2010 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
The date is set for the biggest M-Ball event of the year. Join us at the Old Orchard in Dimondale, MI, on August 7 for the 6th annual World Championships. More details coming soon, but if you’ve been there before you already know what to expect (recap of MB5). We have openings for 144 players, and I’ll have an online registration form available soon. MORE TOURNAMENTS
Three other tournaments are on the current docket, although I know many more will be added. Next Saturday (April 24) we’ll be playing at Patriarche Park in East Lansing. I’m expecting a small but experienced field (I’ll be there), and anyone is welcome to play. Contact Keith Hagen for more details – hagenkei@yahoo.com. The week after that (May 1), the SoMoCo crew will be playing in Birmingham, AL. Contact Chuck Salmon for information – bhamchuck@charter.net.
A third tournament may be the non-Worlds highlight of the summer. Monkeyball is partnering with the National Tailgating League for a doubles tournament to be held at the Michigan International Speedway campground the weekend of the August NASCAR race (Aug 14-15). More details coming about this unique event, but we do know it will be a 32-team single-elimination tournament.
